Chemical & Hazardous Area

Hazardous area (Ex) electrical and compliance for chemical and process facilities.

Industrial switchroom equipment in a process facility

Hazardous area work is the one place where the paperwork is as important as the installation. Get the classification wrong, or the dossier incomplete, and a compliant install is still a finding.

We handle Ex-compliant electrical work with the inspection records and verification dossiers to match — and we say so plainly when an area classification needs a competent person to review it before anyone starts.

What hazardous area sites deal with

  • Classification drift — the drawing says Zone 2, the process changed in 2019, and nobody updated the area classification.
  • Dossiers with gaps — equipment installed correctly but the verification record never completed, which is what an auditor actually asks for.
  • Mixed-standard equipment — imported plant arriving with certification that does not translate cleanly to Australian requirements.
  • Inspection intervals slip — periodic inspection is a schedule, and schedules are the first thing to go when the plant is busy.

Most sites in this sector are better served by an ongoing arrangement than job-by-job callouts. See maintenance agreements.
