Warehouses have gone from sheds with lights to sites running conveyors, sorters, AMRs and charging infrastructure — usually added one system at a time, by different suppliers, onto a switchboard that was sized for lighting.
We handle the electrical infrastructure and the controls that tie it together, including the parts that arrive from three different vendors and are expected to talk to each other.
What tends to go wrong in distribution centres
- Charging infrastructure outgrows the supply — a bigger fleet of electric equipment quietly becomes a mains capacity problem.
- Systems that do not talk — conveyor, sorter and WMS supplied separately, with the integration left as somebody else's problem.
- Peak season is immovable — works either happen before the ramp-up or wait until February.
- Pedestrian and vehicle separation — safety systems added after the layout changed, rather than designed with it.
