A global flavours and fragrances manufacturer engaged Mobile Automation for a large automation and systems-integration project at its Dandenong South plant — bringing blenders, clean-in-place (CIP), an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) and scrubbers together under a single SCADA, in a hazardous-area environment.
The challenge
The plant needed multiple production systems unified under one SCADA with consistent, reusable control structures, delivered with hazardous-area compliance and integrated with third-party equipment.
Our approach
Mobile Automation manufactured the control panels and delivered the automation and SCADA build in-house, using a modular, reusable design so the system is consistent and maintainable.
Scope of works
- Control-panel manufacture — Blender A/B MCCs, hopper and mixer wiring, point-to-point testing, wiring looms and labelling — plus MCC mechanical assembly
- Ignition SCADA with version control, reusable UDTs and modular embedded views for unit and equipment-module control, and operator panels
- Siemens TIA PLC programming for blenders and CIP equipment modules, Danfoss drive configuration, and Advantech panels running Ignition Edge
- Sacchi interface programming with a test suite; hazardous-area ANZEx/IECEx certification; rainhood and HMI sun-shield fabrication; and segregation of ASRS/scrubber network cabling from power cabling
The results
- Blenders, CIP, ASRS and scrubbers integrated under one Ignition SCADA
- Consistent, reusable control structures for maintainability
- Delivered with hazardous-area (ANZEx/IECEx) compliance
- Control panels manufactured and integrated end to end
