Mobile Automation delivered an upgrade to a leading cable manufacturer's AB25 extruder line — a new motor, MCC, guarding and a modern PLC/HMI control system — a project of around $72k.
The challenge
The extruder line needed a new motor and MCC, modern PLC/HMI control with controlled ramp-up and ramp-down, laser integration, and guarding, commissioned with the operators.
Our approach
Mobile Automation assembled the MCC, installed the electrical services, wrote the control system and fabricated the guarding, then commissioned the line with the site team.
Scope of works
- MCC assembly, and supply and cable trays installed to the new extruder motor, with power and control to the sensing and positioning devices
- A new HMI control panel built and wired; PLC and HMI programming including ramp up/down sequencing, SEW drive I/O and laser feedback integration
- An interlock to stop the extruder line when the upstream Parma machine stops
- Powder-coated guarding fabricated and fitted, and the line commissioned with operators and the site engineer
The results
- An upgraded extruder line with modern PLC/HMI control
- Controlled ramp-up/ramp-down and laser integration
- New guarding fabricated and fitted
- Commissioned with the operators and site engineer
