Solving a leading food and beverage manufacturers Short-Term Labour Hire Requirements
Mobile Electrics was called up to assist a leading food and beverage manufacturer in mid 2009. Up until that time this manufacturer had been using a labour hire company to fil gaps in their electrician shifts. Their recent experience with the electricians supplied by the labour hire company, demostrated the labour hire company was unable to provide the high level of electrical expertise required for their plant and equipment.
Mobile Electrics commenced six special class electricians covering a range of maintenance shifts from day, afternoon and night, as well as weekend shiftwork coverage. Mobile Electrics was able to expand and contract the labour requirements depending on the manufacturers needs, often being required to provide labour with minimum notice.. This leading food and beverage manufacturer used the Mobile Electrics team to fill fluctuations in their own workforce based on holidays, RDOs and sick leave.
To ensure clear communication between the companies, Mobile Electrics assigned a key accounts manager, with responsibility for overseeing the scheduling and allocation of labour. In addition, Mobile Electrics needed to meet the manufacturers’ stringent OH&S requirements and was required to supply only special class electricians with an understanding of programming in a multitude of operating systems and PLCs.
The initial timeframe for the agreement was three months, however this was then extended further, based on the manufacturers request.
