Mobile Electrics Manufactures Control Panels for Orica Yarwun’s Sodium Cyanide Plant Expansion Project.

Orica Chemicals is a leading global supplier of sodium cyanide for use in gold extraction and is Australia and New Zealand’s largest supplier of chemical products to mining, water treatment and other industrial markets.

The sodium cyanide plant expansion project at Yarwun Queensland upgraded the plants output by 15,000 tonnes per annum, increasing capacity to 95,000 tonnes per annum to meet the demand from the global gold industry.

Mobile Electrics manufactured the 6000mm x 2000mm stainless steel motor control center and control panel, 5 remote I/O panels and 5 operator panels for the new box filling system. The main board contained a Siemens SIMATIC S7 PLC and 18 variable speed drives with control over ProfiNET. The remote I/O panels contained SIMATIC ET 200 distributed I/O over ProfiNET and the operator panels displayed status indication and emergency stops.

The controls were packed and delivered to Yarwun to be installed and commissioned. The sodium cyanide plant expansion will be online later this year.
